Alex de Minaur stuns World #1 Novak Djokovic with straight sets win in Perth

Djokovic's fairytale 43-game win streak in Australia came to an end, with 24-year-old de Minaur securing a brilliant straight sets victory in the opening and decisive rubber of the United Cup quarter finals vs Serbia in Perth.

It was de Minaur's first ever victory over a world No.1, as well as his first ever win over Djokovic, winning 6-4, 6-4.

"Today was my day and I'm happy I was able to get the win."

Just 12 months ago, de Minaur went down to Djokovic in straight sets at the Australian Open, but with a dominant serving performance last night (7 aces & 97% points won off his first serve) and fire in his belly, de Minaur showed that his game is reaching new heights.

It's another huge step forward for Alex, giving him confidence ahead of the Australian Open in Melbourne in two weeks.

The Australian team now travels to Sydney for the Semi Finals of the United Cup.
